Sarasota Opera House

Sarasota is renowned for its celebrated arts and culture scene, with a full complement of performances, activities, and events for enthusiasts. Located on Boulevard of the Arts, Auteur will be at the center of it all, offering world-class concerts, ballet and theatre practically at the doorstep of residents. Without a doubt, the proximity to the best arts and entertainment that Sarasota has to offer – as highlighted below – is one of the main reasons that your next address is so enviable.

Sarasota Opera House
Sarasota Opera House has been in operation since 1960 when it first originated as a guild (Asolo Opera). The guild secured a larger production house in 1979 and has been showcasing extraordinary performances of passionate music and drama ever since. The art deco opera house underwent a transformative restoration that has returned the theater “to its original glory, while creating a venue for the 21st century,” (Sarasota Opera House). The Sarasota Opera is committed to education in the arts and partners with local schools, as well as its extensive youth program, noted as the best in the nation.

During the summer months, screenings of opera and ballet are featured at the opera house. A full schedule of productions resumes in the fall. Now in its sixth year, A Taste of Downtown, is a featured event held exclusively to inaugurate the beginning of the fall production season at the Opera House. Tickets are on sale now for this popular event that showcases inspiring tastings and a selection of fine wines and crafted local brews from downtown eateries. Sarasota’s Youth Opera will also debut a performance at this event, and all proceeds will benefit their pursuit and practice in the study of opera.
