Well-known for its acclaimed 33 World Premieres and 89 Regional Premieres, Mainstage is Florida Studio Theatre’s flagship program. Mainstage produces the best in contemporary American theatre through plays that speak to the ever-changing world, and the program features seven annual productions highlighting new works and the latest Broadway productions.

Cabaret began in 1996 and now houses entertaining musical and improvisation performances. The program has produced 40 World Premieres since its inaugural show.

Stage III is even home to the Florida Studio Theatre Improv Troupe, a popular improv group established in 2001.

New Play Development
Developing new plays is crucial to the Florida Studio Theatre Sarasota, with the theatre receiving nearly 8,000 new plays a year from writers nationwide. Most of the unique scripts are then carried through the New Play Development program and performed at the Mainstage and Cabaret theatres.
